Chicagoland, Day 1

Cold, Wet. There was a fog hanging over the city. You could only see maybe 20 stories up. Beyond that it was a cloud city.
I spent the day wandering. I had written a list of addresses with directions but I had no idea where the streets were to begin with. On top of that it was raining and dripping in just about every direction so any attempts to check the notebook would lead to a soaked notebook.
Apparently on a rainy day in Chicago people nest in coffee shops and never leave. There’s a Starbucks on just about every corner and every one I looked in was filled.
I really had no idea what I was doing or where I was going. The plan was just to get there. This has been a kind of a metaphor for my life up to this point.
I got splashed from gutter water on the curb. I kept finding myself standing in puddles; too soaked to feel the difference.
So the day was spent walking the streets in the rain.
It was pretty horrible until I walked into Millennium park and found an orchestra rehearsing.
